I also read somewhere that you can access a DVD drive on another computer over a network connection. The only problem being that you may not have access to a 2nd computer, and the user of the 2nd computer would need to stop what they are doing to put the disc in. So can you simply buy an external USB2 DVD drive and plug that it when you need it? Would this work ok (eg it might be designed for Windows), and would software installs and re-installation of the Mac OS X work in the normal way - eg, startup the AirBook holding down the 'c' key. I thought at one point in history that this feature (which would be required should the hard disc OS X fail) only worked if the drive was an Apple installed drive, and didnt work if it were made by a different company (eg, Freecom).
